Early Map Of Australia Picture

Dutch explorers of the early 17th century named the western coast of Australia “New Holland.” The name was commonly used to describe the entire continent until the early 19th century. This map, part of a larger map of the Pacific Ocean, is believed to date from the early 1800s. Few general maps before 1820 depicted the southern coast of Australia or the Bass Strait that separates the Australian continent from Tasmania
